Walpole Co-operative Bank Offers Assistance to Homebuyers Through FHLBank Boston Programs

Walpole Co-operative Bank has been selected to participate in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston’s (FHLBank Boston) Equity Builder Program (EBP) and Housing Our Workforce (HOW). Both programs are first-come, first-serve, and provide home buyers with grants to assist with down payments.

The Equity Builder Program grants up to $22,000 to eligible home buyers, and recipients must also complete a homebuyer counseling program. HOW provides a two-to-one match of homebuyer down payments made at the time of purchase by eligible homebuyers, and borrowers can receive up to $20,000 in assistance.

“These two programs have become valuable tools to help working individuals and families in the community ease some of the challenges with home buying. We are pleased to participate in the programs to assist these individuals as we also support the financial stability and vitality of our communities,” said Paul Chaggaris, President & CEO, Walpole Co-operative Bank.

Walpole Co-operative Bank is eligible to receive up to $220,000 through the EBP as well as up to $150,000 through HOW in 2022.

Since 2003, the Equity Builder Program has awarded more than $48.9 million in funds assisting 4,251 income-eligible households. FHLBank Boston has also awarded $5.6 million in funds assisting 421 income-eligible households since the HOW program launched in 2019.
