Horace M. Thayer, Jr. joins Walpole Co-operative Bank

Joseph V. Scholl, President and CEO of Walpole Co-operative Bank, announced today that Horace M. Thayer, Jr. of East Walpole has joined the Bank as assistant vice president of commercial lending.

He brings with him over 35 years of banking experience, most recently as vice president – credit liaison at Sovereign Bank. He began his banking career with Hancock Bank (now under Bank of America).

Thayer holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, and also studied accounting at Southeastern Massachusetts University in North Dartmouth.

He has participated in the 20-mile Project Bread Walk for Hunger for nearly three decades, and has been an apheresis donor at the Dedham American Red Cross for more than 20 years. He serves as assistant treasurer for the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole, and has been an active member for more than 30 years.
