Community response to Walpole Co-operative Bank celebration exceeds all expectations
Walpole Co-operative Bank celebrated its 100th anniversary recently by encouraging local residents to pick up a free reusable grocery bag at the Bank, then return it filled with non-perishable food items for the Walpole Community Food Pantry.
According to Joseph V. Scholl, President and CEO, the community’s response was overwhelming, resulting in the largest single donation ever received by the Food Pantry!
“We were amazed, and extremely pleased, to collect nearly 150 bags filled with food for distribution to individuals and families in need,” said Scholl. “Our customers and neighbors showed true ‘community spirit’ with their response, making it a truly meaningful way for the Bank to celebrate not only its milestone anniversary, but also its long history of giving back to the community — a practice that continues to this day.”
Scholl also announced the winners of the Bank’s special Anniversary Prize Drawing. Susan O’Brien was the winner of the Weber grill, Marion Innocent won a four-pack of Red Sox game tickets, and Pattie Grusheski won the two-pack of Red Sox tickets.
